It’s been said that by not divulging everything, more is revealed.
These paintings are meant to show glints and fragments. When I’m thinking about them I’m envisioning what will show through and what will be covered up, hidden.
Just because I’m aware of the methods being employed doesn’t mean the control is mine. Ideas are floating around, but getting them to cooperate is what an artist is supposed to do. At least that’s what we think.
After colors are laid down, layers applied, marks and scratches are made in still wet paint, most often a mysterious transmuting has taken place. Whether it’s carelessness or a series of happy accidents something changes. Unforeseen events lead to unexpected results more times than not.
And that can be exciting.
